From twisty canyons to open highways, 2024 brought energy, adrenaline, and serious Shelby pride. Bigger crew, bolder roads, unforgettable moments.
Allen Grant is a name etched into the high-octane history of Shelby American. As one of the original team members handpicked by Carroll Shelby in the 1960s, Grant played a vital role during the golden era of American racing. Known for his fearless driving and sharp engineering mind, Grant helped shape the Shelby legacy both on and off the track.
Born with a passion for speed and precision, Grant caught Carroll Shelby’s attention through his work with the legendary Peter Brock and the California racing scene. He became one of the youngest members of the Shelby Cobra racing team, and his career quickly took off. Grant drove the iconic Cobra Daytona Coupe, car #13, to victory in several critical races, contributing to Shelby’s historic win of the 1965 FIA World Manufacturers’ Championship for GT cars, the first time an American manufacturer ever claimed the title.
But Grant wasn’t just a driver, he was a trusted member of Shelby’s inner circle. Known for his insight, loyalty, and commitment to innovation, he worked closely with the Shelby crew, including Brock, Ken Miles, and others. His connection to Carroll Shelby was rooted in mutual respect and a shared obsession with winning.
Over the years, Allen Grant’s name has become synonymous with the Shelby legacy. Today, he remains an active figure in the Shelby community, preserving the stories, values, and adrenaline that defined an era.
His presence as the 2024 VIP guest of our rally was both an honor and a full-circle moment, bringing living history to the road once again.
